The Snake River experience begins with the unboxing. It’s evident from the impeccable packaging that these folks care about their product, and the reveal was eye-opening and fun.

The plan was to connect the Takshaka speaker cables and interconnects and fire up the system to let it break in while I went about my day, but I couldn’t resist sitting down for a quick listen. First impression: they sounded very similar to the cables they had replaced. I should say those were not zip cords, but pretty high-quality cables from high-end companies. (I’d suffered a fire in my apartment, caused by roofers and hot tar, and they had fallen victim to being stomped on by very large firefighters wielding axes and wearing heavy, Sasquatch-size boots.)

So even though I wasn’t overwhelmed as I had hoped, equivalent out of the box was no mean feat. I was going to leave it at that, but stayed put for some reason, and the music began to... change.

Change is a weak adjective. The music was becoming warmer, full-bodied, downright lush, as if the musicians were morphing from flat cutouts to Harry Potter holograms. I’d experienced this only once, when a behemoth pair of new monoblocks had suddenly reached the requisite break-in hours after about three weeks and bloomed like an old Disney documentary of flowers opening in time-lapse.

I guess the company’s pre-cooking the cables allowed this to happen so quickly, but it was as if the cables kind of took the measure of my system and said, “OK, got it. Here you go.”

I ended the session with a very non-audiophile recording: Gordon Lightfoot, “Song for a Winter’s Night.” (You needn’t listen if you have no soul.) There are sleigh bells that are heard in the distance between the verses. Thanks to the ravages of time, they began to sound like digital artifacts over the years, indeed disappearing on bad days. Now the detail, highs, and the horse-drawn sleigh of my younger years were back.

So, a snake, the woman smiling alluringly on their home page, and eternal youth. Throw in an apple and there might be a story here...

I have some pretty good interconnects in my system and after having success with upgrades to the SRA Signature power cords, decided to take the Takshaka IC's for a spin. Well, well, my, my. There is air, clarity and a smoothness now that wasn't apparent before. A slight harshness and sibilance previously evident in some music is now controlled (in fairness, not eliminated, but tamed). There is a plumpness to the bass, without bloat; female vocals are sweeter. Kudos, Jonny. Thanks.

I had high hopes a hybrid interconnect would elevate my tube dac
and tube integrated amp sound. I’m no stranger to high end cables
but when I took the Takshaka out of the box my thought was,if this thing
sounds as good as it looks, fingers crossed.
After 2 weeks I’m still grinning. Read the other reviews this is a well
balanced, refined cable that has exceptional communication, it flows.
It gets the macro and micro right.

My new Takshaka interconnects are replacing a 5-year-old Synergistic Research cable between my DAC and a tube integrated amp. The soundstage is HUGE! Not only is it wall to wall, it is imaging vertically, above the height of my speakers! I have never, ever, heard that before in my system. The entire wall behind my speakers is a virtual concert. I am also experiencing huge increases in the dynamic contrasts within the music. Every instrument, from the lead guitar to the most delicate wood blocks in the background, are clearly defined in three-dimensional space, surrounded by “air” and presents their own dynamics.

At first, I felt the vocals were a tad soft or rounded but those are not the right words. Vocals are more organic, more natural or “real sounding” with an energy that can give you goose bumps. My impression is not that I am listening to Stevie Nicks on a system but that Stevie Nicks is in the room with me.

The bottom end also threw me at first because the “bloom” that I was accustomed to was gone. In its place was an incredibly tight, deep and well-defined bass be it from drums, a bass guitar or a synthesizer.

This is a (bleep’n) awesome cable that would complement ANY system (at the heart of my modest system is a $3495 integrated amplifier.) Give this cable a listen!

Very pleased (Takshaka IC)! Knocked it out of the Park Jonny. Living breathing the music. You are in the space/soundstage with inflection pitch of a Fender Rhodes to Steel Pans, too. Timbre and Tone. Tonal balance from articulate bass to highs. Exquisite Dynamics. Musical, musical.....musical.

Beautifully crafted and the swag and packaging are excellent as well.

I just purchased the Takshaka interconnect and I find that it takes the well-regarded Signature Series and improves upon it in every way. I hear a notable increase in resolution, detail and clarity, with a more powerful bass, rich and full midrange and an airy and lovely sounding treble. Perhaps the greatest increase, I find, is in the soundstage providing a truly immersive and 3d listening experience. Plus the unique metallurgy combining copper, gold and silver provides that same beguiling and rich tonality that I really love. I think the Takshaka compares favorably with the much more expensive Cardas Clear Beyond interconnects that I already own. In fact, the two compliment each other well and I have the Cardas going from my source components to preamp and the Takshaka from the preamp to amp that results in a very harmonious and beautiful sound. Highly recommended!

Hanging Faraday® Shielding

Many conventional shielded cable designs tie the shield into the signal circuit at both ends. While common, that approach can raise return-side capacitance and alter impedance behavior.

I compare this to walking down the sidewalk to the store, then having to slog through a swamp on the way home. The trips are not equal. The path is imbalanced. That imbalance can create problems.

My Hanging Faraday® instead isolates the shield electrically while still enclosing the conductors, functioning like a Faraday cage that blocks external interference without loading the transmission path.

The effects of our Hanging Faraday shielding aren’t just opined. The following images were taken at our booth at an audio show with many people watching the demonstration, observing the test conditions in real time, and even providing the comparison cables.

Lead Time & Curing

Once your order is in, it goes into the build queue. Refer to the Build Queue indicator on our website for the current turnaround time. Once its turn comes up, we’ll hand-craft your cable and, unless you opt out, run it through a 200-hour curing process before shipping. That means it’s almost fully cured, or "burned in" and ready to perform the moment it hits your system. A little bit of settling time is always suggested, but for the most part, they're ready to go!

Build queue is typically about 8–10 business days, and including curing, most orders ship in about three weeks. But please refer to the Build Queue Indicator for up-to-date reference.

We can accept genuine Snake River Audio cables for trade-in. Just contact us first at SnakeRiverAudio@gmail.com. Once received, we’ll evaluate it based on condition, age, and type, and assign a fair trade-in value, usually 50–75% of original retail.

We list used cables at near break-even, so your trade-in value will reflect actual resale (minus payment and shipping fees.)

I am currently working on a process/partnership to be able to accept non-SRA cables as trade-ins. If you have cables that you don't need any more, even other brands, email and let me know what you've got. I'll need make, model, brand, length, terminations, age (if known), and a couple of pictures to be able to give you a close estimated trade-in value.
