Takshaka 50Ω Digital Clock Cable

In any digital audio system that uses a master clock, timing accuracy is everything. The clock signal is the reference that keeps every digital component synchronized. If that signal arrives distorted, noisy, or unstable, the entire system suffers.

The Takshaka 50Ω Digital Clock Cable is designed to deliver that timing signal with absolute stability. Built using the same design philosophy behind the Takshaka cable series, this cable preserves the integrity of the clock waveform from the source device to the receiving component.

Unlike S/PDIF or AES digital cables, which carry encoded audio data, a word clock cable carries a dedicated square-wave timing signal used to synchronize multiple digital components. Because of this, maintaining the correct impedance and preserving clean signal edges becomes critical.

The Takshaka clock cable is built as a true 50-ohm transmission line, allowing the clock signal to propagate cleanly with minimal reflections and excellent edge integrity. The result is a more stable reference clock and more reliable synchronization between digital devices.

At the center of the cable is a high-purity silver conductor chosen for its superior conductivity and extremely low signal loss. Silver allows the clock waveform to travel with greater precision, preserving the sharp rise times required for accurate timing signals.

The cable also incorporates Snake River Audio’s Hanging Faraday® shielding system, which protects the clock signal from external electromagnetic interference without imposing the sonic penalties that can occur with traditional shield grounding methods. By isolating the shield from the signal return path, the clock waveform remains clean and stable across the entire cable length.

The Takshaka Digital Clock Cable is terminated with precision BNC connectors, the standard used in professional clock distribution systems. BNC connectors maintain the correct 50-ohm impedance geometry from end to end, minimizing reflections and preserving waveform accuracy.

This cable is available in the following lengths:

  • 0.5 meter
  • 1.0 meter
  • 1.5 meter

Because word clock cables carry a dedicated timing reference rather than encoded audio data, these lengths allow flexibility in system layout while maintaining excellent signal integrity.

For systems that rely on external clock synchronization, the Takshaka Digital Clock Cable ensures that the reference signal arrives exactly as intended—clean, stable, and precisely timed.

Hanging Faraday® Shielding

Many conventional shielded cable designs tie the shield into the signal circuit at both ends. While common, that approach can raise return-side capacitance and alter impedance behavior.

I compare this to walking down the sidewalk to the store, then having to slog through a swamp on the way home. The trips are not equal. The path is imbalanced. That imbalance can create problems.

My Hanging Faraday® instead isolates the shield electrically while still enclosing the conductors, functioning like a Faraday cage that blocks external interference without loading the transmission path.

The effects of our Hanging Faraday shielding aren’t just opined. The following images were taken at our booth at an audio show with many people watching the demonstration, observing the test conditions in real time, and even providing the comparison cables.

Direct Comparison: Shielding Effectiveness

Real-world oscilloscope results clearly demonstrate the power of our proprietary
Hanging Faraday® shielding. Test performed in front of a live audience at a trade show,

Built by Hand, One at a Time

At Snake River Audio, nothing is mass-produced. Every Snake River Audio cable is custom-built from the bare wire, raw materials per order. No shortcuts. No outsourcing. Just real craftsmanship, by me and my team, one cable at a time.

30-Day Trial. In Your System, On Your Terms

FreeShip

I get it, you need (and should) hear it in your room, not some showroom or hotel suite at an audio show. That’s why we offer a 30-day risk-free trial. If you're not blown away, return the cable in like-new condition and get a full refund, (minus shipping and processing fees). Read more details about our return policy here

Less than 3% of our cables are ever returned. In fact, over 40% of our customers come back for more. That says more than I ever could.

Lead Time & Curing

Once your order is in, it goes into the build queue. Refer to the Build Queue indicator on our website for the current turnaround time. Once its turn comes up, we’ll hand-craft your cable and, unless you opt out, run it through a 200-hour curing process before shipping. That means it’s almost fully cured, or "burned in" and ready to perform the moment it hits your system. A little bit of settling time is always suggested, but for the most part, they're ready to go!

Build queue is typically about 8–10 business days, and including curing, most orders ship in about three weeks. But please refer to the Build Queue Indicator for up-to-date reference.

You’ll get automatic email updates from the website throughout the process, including tracking once it ships. If you don't see them, check your 'spam' folder. Be sure to mark these emails as "not spam" to ensure future updates.

Trade-In Program

Got a Snake River Audio cable you want to upgrade from? Let’s make it easy.

We can accept genuine Snake River Audio cables for trade-in. Just contact us first at SnakeRiverAudio@gmail.com. Once received, we’ll evaluate it based on condition, age, and type, and assign a fair trade-in value, usually 50–75% of original retail.

We list used cables at near break-even, so your trade-in value will reflect actual resale (minus payment and shipping fees.)

I am currently working on a process/partnership to be able to accept non-SRA cables as trade-ins. If you have cables that you don't need any more, even other brands, email and let me know what you've got. I'll need make, model, brand, length, terminations, age (if known), and a couple of pictures to be able to give you a close estimated trade-in value.

Please note: During sale periods, trade-ins are discretionary and handled case-by-case.
