The final leg of my system, all connected now with cables from SRA, comprises 4 meters of Signature Series Bi-Wire speaker cables, which Jonny described as “Big Beastie Cables”! They are truly beautiful to look at, and the result is outstanding! I nearly fell off my seat the instant I turned on my first CD, with so much more detail than I’d ever heard from a very familiar recording, just hearing the impact from an orchestral side-drum. What followed in subsequent weeks has been revelation after revelation as I’ve played through my collection of much loved music. Everything is so much more clearly defined, richer, faster, clearer, more transparent & so much more exciting than ever before, such that I haven’t been able to tear myself away to write this review, or do anything much else actually. I’ve got a truly 3D sound stage, & can hear the characteristic acoustics and reverb of each concert hall. Orchestral Brass has really come alive - just as I know it from decades sitting in front of the brass section of a symphony orchestra where I’ve been a woodwind soloist, their power and harmonics all very present, as is the clarity of the most delicate and tinkly sounds from gentle percussion instruments. High violins, piccolo, even the highest coloratura soprano, are crystal clear without a trace of harshness. Bass is powerful, well defined & fantastic right down to the lowest A on a grand piano, which is 27.5Hz.
Music for a symphony orchestra can be every complex - I’ve never heard such clarity outside of an actual concert hall!
Now please excuse me while I return to my listening chair….

Signature Series speaker cables (straight)
Absolutely the best value in High End Audio cables . Ive had all the big names , including replacing Tara Labs Evolution cables in my Reference system … now outfitted with a full loom of Signature Series power cords , ICs and Speaker Cables … gave up nothing in bringing great sounding music into my room . These are dollar for dollar the best cables on the market !

Signature Series Bi-Wire cables
Outstanding cables! I put these fine cables on my main two channel system last August and haven't looked back. Phenomenal soundstage and supreme clarity without a hint of glare. Deep, robust, tight bass to die for. I've found the perfect speaker cables for my system. I've had AQ Meteor single biwire cables as well as AQ Dragon double biwire cables on the system as well, but these Snake River Audio cables have won out. Thanks Jonny, well done!

Signature Series speaker cables (straight)
I recently received my Signature Series speaker cables. I opted to have Jonny do the curing on them. Upon opening the box, it was evident that great care goes into the packaging to protect the cables and the extras are always a nice touch. My first impression was they sounded fantastic. They were very detailed and full bodied without that dry/lean analytical sound. After 40 or so hours they continue to break in and impress. They have revealed little nuances from recordings I have heard many times. To my ears, they sound very lush and wonderfully musical. Live recordings now have a deeper and wider sound stage that really immersed me into the venue. So yes, I'm really liking these cables. Thanks Jonny!

I just replaced a pair of Audience Front Row speaker cables with a pair of Snake River Signature Series cables.
Oh, my!
Right out of the box, the Signatures radically eclipsed the Front Rows, which had killed everything else I had tried before them. And they got better and better over the next 200 hours.
As with all the Snake River Signature wires I've tried (have now converted my whole system), the speaker cables opened up the sound stage with sweetly open transparency and revealed the space to the walls of the recording venue. They also revealed the air and space around the images, themselves now much more precisely and naturally defined in 3D.
Best of all, I've been selling off my Audience wires to finance my Snake River purchases -- and winding up with extra money in my pocket!

Signature Series Bi-Wire Speaker cables - Over the 30 + years being involved in this crazy hobby/addiction, I've had quite a few speaker cables in my system. I have never heard a presentation like I have with the bi wire Signatures!
As you move up the cable chain, you get more of the audiophile attributes we're all looking for-usually.
More air, presence, tighter and more defined bass etc.
But the Signatures presented the music like I've never heard before.
The Signatures fleshed-out, if you will, the music allowing me to hear vocals like never before
Music sounded like music without any electronic sheen.
Highs are airy and well defined.
Soundstage and presence are excellent.
These are certainly not warm cables nor are they bright.
I guess the best compliment I can give the Signatures is that they are the most musical cable I've ever had in my system!

This was the final link in my Snake chain. Having added the Mamushi XLR a interconnect and a couple of Cottonmouth Signature Power cables, Jonny kindly supplied an 8 metre length of the Cottonmouth Signature speaker cables for a home trial with no sales pressure whatsoever. He needn't have worried, no way were these cables going back to the USA. They were every bit as good as the rest of their line and became the final icing on the cake of my system, the overall sound quality of which has been raised to a new height. The system now has a lovely, involving, detailed sound that ticks all the audiophile boxes but just gets out of the way and lets the music do the talking. Every album or CD is just so much more enjoyable on every level. Couldn't ask for more.

Signature Series Bi-Wire Speaker cables - I bought this cable back in March 2014. I have YG Carmel speakers which are exceptionally revealing, and so any cable flaws will be revealed. The Signature Series Cottonmouths have been phenomenal, and have given me everything I wanted in a cable - fast tight bass, good midrange body, sweet and sparkly high frequencies, neutral frequency response, and very natural instrument and vocal timbres. These cables are incredible value, I compared them to Jorma Prime speaker cables at over $30,000 a pair, and the difference was very small indeed. Most importantly the Signature Series maintained the natural tone. I also compared them to $10,000 Crystal Cable Ultras, and for my system the Signature Series was a better match !!! The Signature Series easily beat hands down a number of other cables I tried in its price range. Jonny was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Courteous, responsive, technically aware, and not pushy with the sale.

The Signature Speaker cables strike a very elegant balance of inner detail and musicality. They are lively without being shrill or etched and have lovely top extenstion without any sibilance or fatigue. I am toe-tapping and sitting in front of my system floating on the music without a care about detail, what's there and what isn't. Admittedly, I can be a nervous type of audiophile and listen to certain songs impatiently looking for familiar subtle musical phrases or details. That desire has left (at least for the moment) as, while all the details are there, I am more lost in the joy of the music.

The stage is so well defined, deep and wide, it's a delight to wander through. A springtime walk in the park staring at the sot and changing clouds against a crisp and sparkling blue sky. The Yosemite of a musical landscape! The speaker cables revealed a shortcoming in my power cord match for my source. When I put in your IC's that became more apparent and when I initially put your power cord in the AMR, I was set back in my seat at first, but had to jump up and down with excitement at the insane amount of detail and imaging.

My musicality doppelganger needed satisfying. I was sold on the speaker cable and trying hard to find a combo of other wires to make it all work. My power cords have been stable and a mainstay of my system, but the overly detailed path I had traveled led deep into the resolution woods. Now I needed to find one to make the other wires work.

I have a few very nice interconnects* on hand that have served me very well and tried many combos of them with each other and the SRA Cottonmouth Sig. In the end, the synergy of an all SRA IC/SC loom can't be bested in my system by what I have.

The sonicscape painted by your cabling is deeply transparent and transporting. It's almost hyperreal in it's ability to convey information while almost hypnotize me into not caring about it. That is their best quality. It's like walking around in a Maxfield Parrish painting.

In rational terms, the pace is spot on, the stage perfectly proprotioned for me, moderately tall and very wide and deep, the bass controlled, not tubby or bloated, the highs extended, detailed and non-fatiguing and the midrange like controlled silk. Leading edges are brisk and accurate, transients easy and decay is long and a delight. The different cymbal strikes on the beginning of Dave Matthews' "Pay for What You Get" stand out as beauty in detail, waveform and a forceful delicacy.

Hayden's "Robbed Blind" has long been a test track for me for harsh vocal reproduction. I always heard it as forward with a production pushing the uppermid vocal band too far....but, (wait for it....) IT'S MULTIPLES OF HIS OWN VOICE jsut offset enough to be grating, but not with your cables. HA! I never heard that before and it was just great to experience that. So, the resolution of your cables are really remarkable, especially considering they don't tip the scale into the etched fatigue camp at all.

They both have some very fine qualities, relaxed and natural presentation are what immediately calls attention to them, with a large, deep, 3 dimensional soundstage. Tonally, on the warm side on neutral, but not overly warm. Very nice sounding wire indeed.

Based in Riggins, a town in the Pacific Northwest region of the USA, Snake River Audio is a small specialist company, hand-crafting high quality audio cables. It is near Hells Canyon, the deepest gorge in the whole of North America; an area famed for its wild natural beauty. Its product categories are named after venomous snakes. Nice!

The range includes Interconnects (analogue/digital), Speaker cables, Power cords, and falls into four price/performance categories; the Adder Silver series, the Cottonmouth Gold series, the Mamushi Magnetic series, and the recently introduced Signature series. The latter are available in ‘Cottonmouth’ or ‘Mamushi’ formats.

The Adder series features high-purity (0.999%) silver wire, while Cottonmouth employs 24ct gold-plated OFHC copper. The Mamushi option is available in a choice of silver or 24ct gold-plated OFHC copper, and features a capacitive woven design with magnetic shielding to reduce RFI. There’s a choice of balanced/unbalanced configurations.

Snake River’s flagship Signature series is available in either Cottonmouth or Mamushi formats, and combines pure silver with 24ct oxygen-free high-density copper in a hybrid cable designed to give the best features of both. A new range of Boomslang digital cables was recently announced.

All Snake River Audio cables are now cryogenically frozen to improve performance, and subjected to a minimum of 200 hours ‘burn in’ before being shipped. This should minimise running-in times – though the company still recommend allowing a certain amount of time for the cables to fully settle.

We were sent three cables to test; a 3m long Cottonmouth AMP series power cord (£1,396.90) – a pair of 3m Cottonmouth Signature bi-wire speaker cables (£1,591.90) – and a pair of Mamushi Signature Interconnects (£1,202). At these sorts of prices, you’d expect top performance, and I wasn’t disappointed!

I started with the power cable. Snake River Audio offer two variants; the standard version has 15amp capacity and consists of six cross-woven strands. But there’s also a 20amp 10-strand AMP version for big power amps. A 1m length AMP cable retails for £1,006.90, but add £195 for each extra metre.

Given the number of things I have to improve the quality of my mains supply – specialist cabling, and purification devices from IsoTek and PS Audio – I’m always mildly surprised when a cable comes along and singlehandedly makes an audible improvement. But that’s just what the Snake River Audio’s AMP did. Using the cable to power a Musical Fidelity AMS CD player (my power amp takes a 20A flat pin plug, so couldn’t be used) I noticed an improvement in terms of clarity and focus. The music seemed to sound ‘firmer’ and more solidly projected. The background seemed slightly quieter, and overall the sound was cleaner.

Okay, it wasn’t a massive difference, and I’m not sure I’d want to pay nearly £1,400 to get it. But, considering how many widgets I have installed to improve mains quality, and the fact that my mains is pretty clean to start with, it’s amazing the cable made any difference at all. Physical construction is first-rate; SRA’s AMP cable feels built to last.

Next I tried the Mamushi interconnect, using it between the AMS CD player and a Classe CP-800 preamp. The Classe has an excellent in-built DAC, and overall I’ve chosen to listen via this rather than the AMS’ own DAC and analogue output stage. Using the Classe’s DAC provides a shorter, simpler signal path – and improves sound quality.

But, such was the improvement wrought by the Mamushi Signature interconnect, I now preferred to listen via the AMS’ analogue output to the Classe’s DAC! The Mamushi Signature delivers greater tonal range and body, and increased naturalness. There’s an amazing ‘rightness’ about the sound. The musical presentation is solidly focused yet pure.

The Mamushi cable is very thick and chunky – more like a speaker cable than an interconnect – and it’s not very flexible. You need around 15-20cm gap between component and rear wall to give the cable space to gently curve in the required direction. And, as if sounding great wasn’t enough, the Mamushi looks beautiful too. The covering has a shimmering red/blue metallic hue that really catches the eye. The build quality of these cables is excellent, and the presentation – Box, Bags, Serial Number Certificate – is good. Like the sonic performance of the cables, it’s quietly impressive without being excessive. Your money goes on the cable, rather than fancy packaging.

Finally, I hooked up the Cottonmouth Signature speaker cables, and once again noticed an immediate improvement in clarity and coherence. As before, the music seemed to sound smoother and better integrated, with an inner clarity that enabled the ear to follow delicate backing vocals and instruments more easily.

Bass sounded very solid and powerful, while middle frequencies were liquid and precise. The upper frequenc...
