What Is Cryogenic Treatment?
During manufacturing, wire and other components are exposed to significant mechanical and thermal stress. Drawing, twisting, soldering, and handling all deform the metal’s internal crystal structure at a microscopic level. These distortions increase electrical resistance, reduce consistency, and limit performance.
Cryogenic treatment involves slowly cooling the metal to −320°F (−196°C) using liquid nitrogen. At this extreme temperature, the material’s atomic lattice becomes more uniform and relaxed, relieving residual stress and realigning dislocated grain boundaries.
Once held at that deep cryogenic state for a controlled period, the metal is slowly brought back to room temperature — now in a more stable, lower-resistance configuration. The result? Better conductivity, lower capacitance, and improved signal flow.
