That’s where our Hanging Faraday® shielding concept comes in.



Shielding That Protects Without Polluting

Most high-end cables talk about shielding, but they don’t always do it right. In many mass-produced cables, the shield (often a braided mesh or foil) is connected at both ends. This means it’s not just a shield… it becomes part of the signal path. That adds capacitance, alters impedance, and opens the door to signal distortion. This is exactly the opposite of what a good cable should do.

Hanging Faraday® takes a smarter approach.

We float the shield, meaning it’s only connected to ground at the source end of the cable. This configuration acts as a true Faraday cage around the internal conductors, rejecting unwanted noise and electromagnetic interference (EMI/RFI). And because the shield is never part of the audio circuit, it introduces zero additional capacitance or signal congestion.

The result?
A cable that protects your signal without affecting your signal.



Defense Goes Both Ways

Most people think of shielding as blocking noise from getting in. But it’s just as important to stop noise from getting out.

Without proper shielding, digital cables and high-current cables such as speaker or power can emit high-frequency noise that contaminates nearby analog components, especially phono stages, preamps, and sensitive tube gear. Our Hanging Faraday® design contains that noise, keeping your entire system cleaner and quieter. It’s an extra level of performance that you won’t find in most off-the-shelf cables.



Why Most Companies Don’t Do It, And Why We Can

Implementing a true Hanging Faraday® design requires more than just technical understanding. It requires intentional craftsmanship. Mass-production facilities can’t easily float shields on one end, or ensure consistent ground termination. But because every Snake River Audio cable is built by hand, one at a time, we can ensure the shield is properly floated, grounded to the correct pin, and tested for complete isolation.

This level of precision takes more time, more care, and more knowledge. But it’s the only way to build a cable that lives up to our standards.
